Today’s blog post comes from Katrina of Jelly Jars and is part of a very special day with other Pittsburgh bloggers! You can see my post over on To The Streets where I shared my Spring Beauty Routine. Read on to read Katrina’s beauty faves below.

“Hi There! I’m Katrina, I sometimes blog at jellyjars.net although I have been on somewhat of a hiatus for a while, but really hoping to get back into it soon! Every year I love being a part of the Pittsburgh Guest Blogger Event and I think that’s the only reason I keep up my blog the rest of the year, so that I can get invited back! I figured I’d take advantage of having my guest post on a fashion blog and talk about some of the beauty brands/items I have been loving lately.

I am not ashamed to admit that although I love makeup, I am incredibly cheap when it comes to buying it. I have a few things from Urban Decay and MAC, but that’s about as high end as I go. And that’s rare. I am no stranger to L’Oreal and I’ve been a devoted consumer of their Voluminous mascara for 10+ years now. (If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.)

Onto the faves:

1) L’Oreal Infallible The Super Slim Liner

I loooove this. I was using Eyeko liner which was great but much more expensive, this is definitely under $10 and does not disappoint. I do a cat eye every single day and although results vary, they would be disastrous without this secret weapon.

2) Colourpop Super Shock Shadows

One of my best friends is an incredible makeup artist and turned me onto these little babies. At 5 bucks a pop, it is impossible to stop buying them. I really, really love the metallic ones! The formula is super soft and creamy and they actually go on best with just your finger! And don’t let the “u” trick you, they are made in the USA!

3) Colourpop Lippie Stix

Saccharine name aside I love these. Also only $5 each! There are a variety of formulas, I am partial to the satin. (Note: although I love some of the colors, I am not a fan of their ultra matte glosses, way too drying for me (or maybe I just don’t know how to apply.))

4) Benefit Brow Zing

Confession: A few years ago, I did not understand the importance of a proper brow. Mine were light and sparse and weird. Thanks again to the above friend, she taught me how to properly shape a brow. But shapingstill didn’t do much for the pattern of my brows that basically resemble two faint blobs above my eyes. Benefit Brow Zing to the rescue. There’s wax, powder, a mirror and tiny tweezers all in one sweet package that is totally foolproof. And lasts forever. I’ve tried other products and combos but keep coming back to this. I will sometimes leave the house void of makeup, but I never leave the house void of brows.

5) Dove Pistachio Cream with Magnolia Body Wash

This is a weird one. I was in the store trying to buy a new body wash and popping all the bottles open to sniff them. I kept coming back to this scent, even though it was kind of weird. I actually walked out of the aisle with something else and turned around to go get it because I could not get it out of my head. And after the first use, I am hooked. I have a strong preference for “clean” scents. I don’t want to smell like a kiwi or a rose or crème brulee, I just want to smell clean. This toes the line of clean and sweet and definitely smells like pistachios which surprised me because I never realized I wanted to smell like one.

So, that’s what I’m loving these days. I also had some beauty purchases that failed, but that’s a story for another time.

Thanks so much to Alex for organizing this and Stephanie for hosting me! Come say hi at jelly jars sometimes, I promise there will be more posts coming!”
